Summer
Summer is wonderful in the mountains around Annaberg and the Dachstein West region. There are countless walking routes from the village and surrounding areas. In fact one of our favourite past times is to go walking with the children up to an Alm where you can have lunch and view the beautiful scenery. The nature around is just breath taking. Or you can drive to certain Alms if walking isn't your thing.
There are many outdoor swimming pools or lakes for swimming in that make a lovely day out. Also not too far away there are thermal baths.
The closest lakes are Lungötz Forest Pool and the See Park Adventure Park in St Martin. In Summer the pool temperatures are generally 18 & 20 degrees respectively.
There are too many wild water streams/rivers to list.
Thermal Bad Information
Heilbad Vigaun: Not too far from Salzburg Heilbad Viguan has water temperatures of between 28 and 36 C, it consists of one indoor and one outdoor pool, a Roman bath, a solarium, massage, a large sunbathing lawn, a circular torrent and a waterfall as well as the Thermal Café adjoining the pool area.
Watzmanntherme Berchtesgaden: Situated in the Alps of Bavaria, you will enjoy the most spectacular Watzmann view straight from the pool! Large wellness-temple, adventure area with 80 m slide and circular torrent for the kids.
Kaisertherme Bad Ischl: Sea water pool with 3% of salt, 30-32 centigrade, underwater massage, waterfall, whirlpool, solarium, massage, outdoor pool (also in winter), sunbathing lawn and oriental wellness-oase. Distance 43 km.
Lake Information
There are a number of lakes in the area but the main lakes are:
Mattsee: Popular sailing and surfing spot
Wolfgangsee: Every Tuesday night there is a musical boat trip on Lake Wolfgang. It is also a lovely experience to go up the Schafbergbahn (steam train) to watch the sunset.
Mondsee: This is known as the warmest lake in the Salzkammergut. Great for Sun worshippers and water sport-lovers.
Fuschlsee: Fuschlsee is a deep blue lake and a fisherman's paradise. It also offers a golf course with a fantastic view over the lake.
Attersee: Attersee has a depth of 172m and is a scuba-diving paradise.
Wallersee: Is warm in summer and the good water quality makes Wallersee a popular place for families.
Hallstättersee: Is in between 76 Salzkammergut Lakes, it is very popular for scuba diving. The south shore offers beautiful landscapes. It is also a UNESCO World heritage site.

SUMMER 2004 Cable Car times
The chair lifts and cable cars are great for those who find it too tough to walk both up and down the mountains or for those just wishing to go to the top and enjoy the scenery.
